Grain growers and advisers are encouraged to take advantage of a specialist farm business management update to be held in Merredin on 13 February.
The one-day GRDC Farm Business Update is an initiative of the GRDC’s Kwinana East Regional Cropping Solutions Network (RCSN).
The RCSN has identified improved business skills, better knowledge of profit drivers and risk management as big priorities for growers in this region.
Update presentations by leading industry experts are designed to challenge and inspire attendees about the way they view their business and their role in managing risks and seizing opportunities.
Topics covered will include effective business structures, cash-flow management, tax-effective debt reduction, keys to ongoing business success and achieving economies of scale in successful family businesses.
This update is the first of its kind to be held in Western Australia, after members of the Kwinana East RCSN attended the successful Bendigo Farm Business Update in March 2012 and reported that a similar format would be highly beneficial to WA farmers.
For more information about the GRDC Merredin Farm Business Update and to register online visit the ORM website (www.orm.com.au).
The GRDC has also recently released a comprehensive series of Farm Business Management Accounting Fact Sheets to assist growers with running profitable farm enterprises and managing labour and time.
These fact sheet resources include practical information about business benchmarking, grain marketing versus selling, leasing and sharing land, understanding costs, a bank’s approach to farm business and production economics.
