Call for rural leaders

"There was a lot less text book and a lot more real life lessons than other courses offer"... Australian Wheat Board senior grain merchant, Lisa Wilson. Ms Wilson was a 1995-96 GRDC-supported participant in the Australian Rural Leadership program.

The program is a two-year, part-time, leadership development course in which the participants work to develop the personal and professional skills they will need to move to higher leadership positions.

Applications for the 1998-99 program close on July 31. Individuals who are currently in leadership positions in any facet of rural life are urged to apply. Leaders come from rural industry, farm organisations, rural communities, tourism and indigenous affairs.

Growers through the GRDC fund a scholarship position in this program specifically for a leader in the grains industry.
