An antibody-based test for blight is undergoing pre-commercial development in Adelaide. The basic methods have been given a pass, and the test is now being readied for operation on a larger scale.
Several imported tests for detecting blight in pea seed have been evaluated in Victoria and found wanting.
'Unreliable and expensive' are two of the criticisms. A test developed by the Department of Agriculture, Victoria has been trialed at receival points in the Wimmera, and will be examined further, in collaboration with the SA researchers.
