A new learning activity guide, The Nodule Module, is now available for teachers of Years 8-10. The guide includes 10 activities, which can be photocopied for use in the classroom, comprehensive teacher background notes and student information sheets.
The Nodule Module was produced by the education program of the Centre for Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture (CLIMA) along with other education resources aimed at increasing awareness about the importance of agriculture to the Australian economy and the importance of legumes in sustainable agriculture. This effort has been supported by growers and the Federal Government through the GRDC.
The learning activities around legumes and pulses address a range of outcomes and standards from the curriculum for lower secondary students and are particularly useful for science, mathematics, society and environment, and technology and enterprise outcomes.
The Nodule Module would make a great addition to school libraries. It costs $25 (including GST) plus $5 to cover postage and handling, and is available by fax 08 9380 1140 or post from: CLIMA, UWA, 35 Stirling Hwy, Crawley WA 6009.
