A 'HOW TO' management package and new varieties are the targets for NSW pulse research.
The GRDC will commit $734,000 over the next three years in a program aimed at releasing new field pea, chickpea, faba bean and lentil varieties for southern NSW. Work will be concentrated on 20 sites under the direction of Eric Armstrong and NSW Agriculture pulse development officer Di Carpenter.
Dr Armstrong says the 'how to' package will aim at giving growers more confidence in choosing the right pulse crop for the right conditions.
The new varieties will be suited to conditions in NSW where soil type and climate can vary markedly from other states.
