Winter Pulse Disorders: The Ute Guide
Gleaning the latest details on winter pulse crop disorders is GRDC Southern Panel chairman, Ian MacKinnon (left). Mr MacKinnon is with TOPCROP Publications Coordinator, Michael Wurst, who said the 204-page publication is a pocket-sized pictorial guide enabling disorders in chickpeas, faba beans, lentils, lupins and vetch to be readily identified. " It contains a comprehensive list, description and illustrations of ailments including root and foliar diseases, environmental damage, nutrition al deficiencies and toxicities and herbicide damage," he said.
"The guide has both a contents list in alphabetical order and a 'symptom sorter' outlining the visual symptoms of the disorders. The contents listing can be used when you have a reasonable idea of what the di sorder might be, with disorders listed for each crop in alphabetical order. The ' symptom sorter' provides a detailed way to narrow down the likely possibilities from the crop and plant symptoms."
The guide was developed for TOPCROP Australia by officers from the SA Research and Development In stitute, Primary Industries and Resources SA, and NSW Agriculture with support from personnel in other state agencies and Pulse Australia.
Winter Pulse Disorders: The Ute Guide is available for $25 including GST from the Snowtown Resource Centre 08 8865 2483.
