MANAGING DROUGHT was prepared by NSW Agriculture to help farmers make decisions on how manage the current drought and future droughts.
The guide includes information on planning for droughts, managing and feeding livestock, animal health and welfare, caring for the land during drought, and assistance available to producers affected by drought.
The guide is not intended to be a complete manual on running the farm during a drought. However, it does provide important, basic information for producers to consider when making decisions on how they can best manage droughts.
Managing Drought is available free of charge from NSW Agriculture and Rural Lands Protection Board offices. Additional information can be obtained by calling the NSW Agriculture Drought Hotline on 1800 814 647 or the web site www.agric.nsw.gov.au
