Calling grain farmers

Three young farmers, one of them holds three pigs

THE GRDC is one of a number of organisations committed to assisting promising young farmers through the Nuffield Scholarship program.

They are available to male and female Australian farmers or farm managers, aged between 25 and 45, who intend making a career in agriculture.

The scholarships offer $21,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs on two study trips. The first, a six-week tour, combines scholars from Australia, New Zealand and the UK in a study tour of Southeast Asia, USA and Europe. The second study trip, which must be undertaken within 12 months, is designed to fit the study requirements of the individual scholar.

The initial selection process is done at a regional level with successful applicants moving to a national selection process in September.

Applications for 2003 are being sought and will close on Friday 20 June. Successful applicants will undertake their core study tour in either February or June 2004.

Contact the Australian Nuffield Scholars Association, PO Box 1385, Griffith NSW 2680 for your application form.
