Kenyan-born agronomist Dr Ken Flower will soon move to WA from Zimbabwe to join the WA No-Tillage Farmers Association (WANTFA) as its scientific officer for research, communication and project management.
WANTFA president Tim Braslin said the appointment would move WANTFA to a new level and benefit its 1300 farmer members. "Although one of Ken"s primary roles will be managing our Meckering R&D site and its annual field day, which has become Australia"s biggest no-till farming field day, he"ll also work alongside growers at a regional level.
"This will involve working with the newly introduced WANTFA Farmer Field Day Program... and also with Mike Collins on our GRDC residue management project." A particular focus for Dr Flower will be to turn trial results into profitable crop rotations.
