Grain sector’s new crop of innovators set to raise their voices
Young people working in Australia’s grain industry are about to come together to voice their opinions on food security and other important agricultural issues.
They will join with “young guns” from a range of primary industries at this year’s Innovation Generation conference in Adelaide on July 9-10.
Supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), the annual event is an initiative of Grain Growers Limited (GrainGrowers).
Delegates aged between 18 and 40 years will travel from across Australia and New Zealand to attend the conference which this year carries the theme of “Food security: obstacles and opportunities”.
GRDC Southern Regional Panel chair David Shannon says Innovation Generation provides young people with a unique opportunity to step away from their everyday roles so they can have their say on industry issues that are relevant and important to them.
“This conference offers a dynamic forum for our youth to interact with their peers and the broader agricultural sector and to exchange their thoughts and opinions on a range of stimulating topics,” Mr Shannon said.
This year’s Innovation Generation event, being held in Adelaide for the first time, will feature a line-up of high-profile panellists and guest speakers who will provoke discussion and debate over the two days.
Breakout sessions will allow delegates to further explore topics of interest and liaise with industry experts and leaders.
Delegates will also have access to the latest agricultural products, research and technology to help them learn about efficiency and productivity developments.
This year’s conference is supported by the GRDC (which will be represented at the conference), John Deere, Best Environmental Technologies, Fairfax Agricultural Media, Agrimaster, Greenline Industries, Bayer, Farmoz, and the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics.
