Growers are invited to attend a deep crop nutrition trial field walk and breakfast on October 3 at Mount Mariah on the Central Darling Downs.
Hosted by the Central Downs Grower Group and supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), the inaugural field walk will cover key production topics such as soil organic matter and organic carbon, deep placement of fertiliser and phosphorus soil testing.
The morning will also offer a practical perspective on the value of applying research in the paddock including discussion on the cost of utilising existing equipment.
Guest speakers include Queensland Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) Principal Extension Officer Dr David Lawrence; Mike Bell from the University of Queensland’s Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAFFI); Incitec Pivot Fertilisers Technical Agronomist Bede O’Mara; and Bongeen district grower John “Cowboy” Cameron.
The field walk will commence with breakfast at 7:30am from “Knapdale”, Reading/Ruhles Road, Mount Mariah, Central Darling Downs and conclude with morning tea at 10:30am.
