Business updates are grower's business

Author: Ellen McNamara

Grain growers across New South Wales and Queensland are invited to attend a series of Farm Business Updates next month, which will focus on the drivers beyond yield in an agronomy business.

Kicking off in Dubbo on September 5, Updates will also be held in Goondiwindi on September 7 and Tamworth on September 8.

Those who are familiar with the Farm Business Updates will be interested in a new element of the programs, the ‘dashboard,’ which aims to set the scene for other presentations and discussions at the event, defining key aspects of the ‘business operating environment’ for farm businesses engaged in grains production in the local region.

The dashboard will ensure participants at the event can consider presentations during the day in the context of the local farm business environment, with presentations promoting discussion both during the formal sessions and informal discussion between participants throughout the day.

The Updates will hear from speakers including Richard Heath from the Australian Farm Institute, Simon Fritsch of Agripath, Lindsey Bell from CSIRO and Natasha Searle from Rural Directions on topics including farm business scale, optimising performance of cropping systems and how to get the best from your management team.

These themes are common across all three Updates, and for further information you can go to the events page on the GRDC website.

Dubbo Farm Business Update is on September 5, from 9 – 4:30pm at the Dubbo RSL, Goondiwindi Farm Business Update is on September 7, 8:30 – 4:30pm at the Goondiwindi Community Cultural Centre and Tamworth Farm Business Update is on September 8, 9 – 4:30pm at the Ibis Styles on Ebsworth St.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
