Former Australian Football League coach, elite athlete, businessman and current media commentator, Stan Alves, will be the keynote speaker at a farm business forum for grain growers in the Yarrawonga-Mulwala region.

Mr Alves will share his views on achieving and maintaining success when he addresses the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Farm Business Update on September 16.

To be held at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club, the event will explore the opportunities that exist for growers to improve their farm enterprises.

GRDC Southern Regional Panel deputy chair, Dr Chris Blanchard, says the Update will feature quality speakers who will provide their thoughts and insights on where growers can advance their farm businesses.

“Decision making is fundamental to the overall success of a business, so the Farm Business Updates are a great chance for growers to discuss, contrast, compare and learn about the latest business innovations in the industry to ensure future success,” Dr Blanchard said.

Other speakers include Brad Knight of GeoCommodities who will discuss the market outlook for grain in both the short and long term.

Brian Wibberley from Wibberley Chartered Accountants in South Australia will explore business structures and cash flow management, while Andrew Beattie of ProAdvice will talk about the importance of communication for farming families.

Making modern machinery work efficiently will be the topic of a presentation by Nuffield Scholar and farmer Bruce Thompson.

Supported by Riverine Plains, the Farm Business Update will be from 9.30am to 2.30pm, with catering provided.
