Grain growers attending key Western Australian field days in coming weeks are encouraged to visit the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) marquee to talk about their research needs.
GRDC western regional panel chairman Peter Roberts said the GRDC would host an interactive display at field day events at Dowerin, Newdegate and Mingenew.
“Growers are welcome to drop into the GRDC marquee to talk about the agronomic and business issues facing them, and priority areas for research investment,” he said.
“GRDC personnel and display materials will demonstrate how to engage with the GRDC through its Regional Cropping Solutions Networks (RCSNs) and western regional panel.”
Mr Roberts said researchers from the $100 million Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM) would also be on hand to answer questions about crop disease.
“The CCDM is a partnership between GRDC and Curtin University which conducts research into genetics, breeding and fungicides, and aims to improve agronomy and management practices,” he said.
The GRDC’s social media adviser Pru Cook will attend the Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days and the Newdegate Machinery Field Days, where she can help growers hone their digital skills and teach them new ways to access valuable industry and agronomic information.
“Pru can assist growers in the use of smartphones and tablets, social media and other digital tools such as the GRDC GrowNotes modules, GRDC apps and YouTube videos,” Mr Roberts said.
