Intellectual Property & Licensing

Intellectual property management

GRDC usually owns a share of all intellectual property (IP) generated by the research projects in which it invests. This consists of registrable IP (plant breeder’s rights, patents and trademarks) and non-registrable IP (intellectual know-how and trade secrets). The Corporation actively manages its IP to:

  • ensure that research outputs are adopted as quickly and effectively as possible, by extension and/or commercialisation; and
  • provide access to GRDC IP and gain access to third-party intellectual property where it will facilitate the delivery of research outputs.

The GRDC seeks protection of its IPwhen doing so will achieve the above objectives and maintains a register of its registered IP.

For more information please read the GRDC IP Management Plan (PDF 133KB)
