Description

The HDD2020 Conference in Perth will be an event ideal for students and early career researchers to meet industry and academics interested in herbicides. Exceptional national and international delegates from industry and academia have been invited to present their research and attend the conference. HDD2020 will have a strong emphasis on interactions among delegates and plenty of opportunities will be provided for researchers to discuss their research during poster sessions and catering breaks. Such networking events will also allow HDD2020 exhibitors direct access to the HDD2020 attendees, many of whom are leaders in their field.

The HDD2020 Conference provides an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Australia as an extraordinary location for scientific research. In 2016-2017 the gross value of agricultural production in Western Australia was 9 billion AUD with 2.4 billion generated from wheat production. Herbicide resistance poses a significant threat to the local and global economy with Australia being in the unenviable position of having the second highest number of herbicide resistant weeds in the world. Australia therefore has the motivation and resources to contribute significantly to the development of new herbicides.

The conference will be held at The University of Western Australia (UWA) situated on the Swan River in Crawley, one of Australia’s most picturesque campuses. We have organised accommodation at St George's College (a short walk from the campus) or hotels in the Perth CBD a short bus ride away. Perth provides a wide array of restaurants and tourist attractions to suit everyone’s budget with an integrated transport network of trains and buses making it easy and comfortable to get around. For the adventurous, over 12,000 km of pristine coastline awaits, with breathtakingly beautiful beaches, flora and fauna.
