GRAIN STORAGE SUPPORT: As another harvest gets underway, southern region grain growers will also be preparing their on-farm storage facilities. To assist growers in their efforts to ensure their grain storage practices are safe and effective, the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has released two new Fact Sheets. The Stay Safe Around Grain Storage Fact Sheet offers important advice on how to design and implement safe storage systems and outlines the correct use of stored grain fumigants and chemicals. The Dealing With High Moisture Grain Fact Sheet provides pertinent information on how to manage moisture quickly, as well as blending, aeration cooling and drying. Both fact sheets also contain useful links to other resources and industry experts. The Fact Sheets will be included in the November-December edition of GRDC’s Ground Cover magazine, which should now be arriving in growers’ mail boxes. The fact sheets and other information on all aspects of storing grain are also available at the GRDC extension program website,
