In-crop herbicide application in action

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has released two new fact sheets to assist southern region grain growers with their spraying practices.

The In-crop Herbicide Use Fact Sheet provides key information on important considerations to take into account when planning to apply herbicides in-crop. This fact sheet offers a summary of herbicide groups and the properties that interact with spray practice, information on how a herbicide works, interactions between nozzle type and formulation or adjuvants, as well as the impact of travel speed and nozzle design.

The Foliar Applications of Spray Fact Sheet outlines critical information to be factored into consideration when applying fungicides and insecticides. It includes information on how these products work, pre-spray checks, water volume and spray quality, and sprayer set-up and operating parameters.

Both fact sheets have been developed by the GRDC in conjunction with spray consultant Bill Gordon, of Bill Gordon Consulting. The fact sheets have been mailed to growers in the latest edition of GRDC’s Ground Cover magazine. They are also available for viewing and downloading via and Copies can also be ordered via GRDC’s Ground Cover Direct, free phone 1800 11 00 44 or email
