Crown rot and water use efficiency were high on the discussion list for grain growers and consultants at a recent field day in Narrabri.

Presented by the IA Watson Grains Research Centre and supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), the day featured presentations from leading agronomists, researchers and breeding companies.

Participants spent the morning gaining a comprehensive insight into a range of issues from field-based trials to leading scientific research currently being conducted.

After lunch, participants headed into the paddock to visit all site-based field trials for a practical overview of the full range of research carried out at the IA Watson Grains Research Centre. This research includes faba bean breeding, soil biology work and irrigated wheat trials.

Participants had the chance to talk to researchers one-on-one to discuss the current trials and their practical implications for growers.
