Forbes focuses on opportunities in grains

Growers attending the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Grains Research Update at Forbes this July will hear from leading researchers on topics relating to local issues.
The GRDC Updates provide growers and advisors with a unique opportunity to interact with these leading industry professionals and learn how GRDC-funded research programs are helping tackle some of the north’s most pressing production challenges.
Topics at the Forbes one day Update will include longer season wheat varieties, dual purpose crops and harnessing the benefits of crop residue and tillage for soil improvement, as well as management topics such as pests and disease to watch for and harnessing crop residues and tillage to enhance the soil.
GRDC manager grower services, north Sharon O’Keeffe said the GRDC Updates are an important tool in communicating the latest research to northern growers, advisors and researchers.
“It gives great insight into the scope, progress and results of some of the GRDC’s major research investments while for research partners, the Updates provide an invaluable touch-point with industry which ensures the research work remains practical, meaningful and well-targeted, she said.”
The Update will be held at Forbes on Tuesday 26 July, 9am to 1pm at the Forbes Services Memorial Club, 41-43 Templar St Forbes.
