NSW Farm Business Updates
Author: Sharon Watt | Date: 28 Jun 2013
The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is reminding southern New South Wales grain growers and advisers of two Farm Business Updates to be held over the coming months.
A Farm Business Update for advisers will be at Wagga Wagga on August 15. Topics for this event will include a local and global outlook for season 2013 and a related grain marketing overview; the changing demographics of the grains industry and the implications for service providers; the key drivers of profit in farming systems; achieving economies of scale in successful, vibrant family farming businesses; the key role of leadership and communication in the rural sector; and the economic realities of mixed farming systems.
A highlight of the forum will be a presentation by Phil Eldridge of Afterburn who will advise how the principles of fighter pilots can be applied to business management.
A Farm Business Update specifically designed for growers, to be held at Parkes on October 10, will cover issues such as grain marketing and decision making, land values, succession planning, costs of production and enterprise risks, farm labour and new technologies.
The GRDC’s Farm Business Updates are designed to foster a greater understanding of the various facets of farm business management. More information can be obtained by visiting www.orm.com.au or www.grdc.com.au/updatedates or by contacting ORM on 03 5441 6176 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
