Making cents out of grain storage
Author: Sharon Watt | Date: 13 Nov 2013
On-farm grain storage decision making has just got easier, thanks to a new Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) resource, Economics of on-farm grain storage.
Economics of on-farm grain storage provides guidance on the cost-benefit analysis of effective storage options.
The new guide helps growers calculate, in a user friendly way, the estimated return on investment for on-farm storage for their individual farm businesses.
The cost-benefit scenarios of the guide are scalable and allow for farming systems of all sizes to be analysed.
Key features of the guide include calculation templates, information on fixed and variable costs of on-farm storage, analysis and additional resources for growers.
As part of the GRDC grain storage extension project, consultant Chris Warrick is also available to run workshops on the economics of on-farm storage to help growers determine if storage is the best investment for their business.
To organise a workshop in your area, contact Chris Warrick on 0427 247 476 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
