Farm business issues to be explored at Clare forum
Date: 20 Feb 2015
The business of farming will be the focus of a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) forum in Clare next month.
The Farm Business Update, following the Hart Field-Site Group’s “Getting the Crop In” seminar on March 11, provides a unique opportunity for growers and advisers to learn from and network with leading industry professionals.
GRDC Southern Regional Panel member Richard Konzag, of Mallala, says the Clare event will offer topical and practical advice on the key farm business issues facing grain producers from throughout the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide Plains regions.
“The Farm Business Updates are an initiative of the GRDC Southern Regional Panel and since their inception they have played a successful role in enabling growers to improve their knowledge and understanding of the business issues associated with farming enterprises,” Mr Konzag said.
The program will begin with John Francis from Holmes Sackett exploring the topic of how to make good farm expansion decisions. Mr Francis will look at what factors must be considered when making decisions about increasing the farm size.
Consultant Ed Hunt will delve into managing profitability and risk in a grain business, while facilitator and communicator Andrew Bayly will offer tips and advice on tools to use for effective business communication.
Professional development in farming businesses – a key to profitability, innovation and competitiveness – will also be a focus on the day.
To be held at The Vines Christian Church, Stradbrooke Road, Clare, the Farm Business Update will begin with lunch at 12.30pm and will conclude at 4.30pm.
