Online Farm Trials project

Author: Sharon Watt | Date: 14 Jul 2015

The Grains Research and Development Corporation’s (GRDC) Online Farm Trials project is bringing national grains research data and information directly to growers and the grain industry through innovative online technology. Led by Federation University Australia, Ballarat, the collaboration is establishing a web-portal of trial research data, reports and other information from grains research groups and industry organisations, so growers can access, download, share and act upon grains industry R&D.

Several research groups have commenced contributing trial data and utilising the technology, including Liebe Group (Western Australia), Riverine Plains (NSW), Northern Growers Alliance (Queensland), Southern Farming Systems, Birchip Cropping Group (Victoria) and the Ag Excellence Alliance (South Australia).

Victorian Grower Group Alliance (VGGA) is also collaborating on the project and is recruiting a coordinator to help manage Online Farm Trials participation. The coordinator will plan and facilitate member support activities, manage implementation of external and member-funded projects and strengthen linkages between VGGA members and external stakeholders. A detailed role profile is available from Tony Kent, Interim Coordinator at or 0418 101788 or from David Wolfenden, Victorian Grower Group Independent Chair 0427 018 413.
