Farmers looking to improve their enterprises are being encouraged to attend a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) forum in Rutherglen next month.
The GRDC Farm Business Update on September 8 will provide a unique opportunity for growers and advisers to learn from and network with leading industry professionals.
GRDC Southern Regional Panel chair Keith Pengilley says the Farm Business Update will feature a line-up of expert speakers who will provide advice on a number of issues that have an impact on the bottom line.
“It is important that grain growers and their advisers have a good understanding of the business side of primary production so they have the capacity to maximise their profitability,” Mr Pengilley said.
The Farm Business Updates are an initiative of the GRDC Southern Regional Panel and since their inception they have played a successful role in enhancing growers’ knowledge and understanding of farm business issues.
The program will be opened by John Francis from Holmes Sackett who will discuss the economics of farm expansion and the enterprise mix.
Cam Nicholson from Nicon Rural Services will investigate whether local farmers can run a better business by knowing the risk profile of their farming operations.
Ian Ware from APA Sound will offer advice on how to get the farm digitally ready and how working together can increase connectivity, while business consultant and counsellor Neville Brady will look at the four key areas for improving the farm business.
Supported by Riverine Plains Inc, the Farm Business Update at Rutherglen Memorial Hall will begin at 9.00am and will conclude with lunch at 1.00pm. Following lunch, Ian Ware will host a question and answer session for anyone wanting to know more about improving connectivity on the farm.
