Effective and efficient farm businesses will be the focus of a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) forum in Cowra this month.
The GRDC Farm Business Update on August 21 will provide a unique opportunity for growers and advisers to learn from and network with leading industry professionals.
GRDC Southern Regional Panel chair Keith Pengilley says the Farm Business Update will feature a line-up of expert speakers who will provide advice on a number of issues that have an impact on the bottom line.
“It is important that grain growers and their advisers have a good understanding of the business side of primary production so they have the capacity to maximise their profitability,” Mr Pengilley said.
The Farm Business Updates are an initiative of the GRDC Southern Regional Panel and since their inception they have played a successful role in enhancing growers’ knowledge and understanding of farm business issues.
The program will be opened by Basil Doonan from Macquarie Franklin who will discuss the skills and approaches needed for successful farming systems.
Mike Krause from P2PAgri will detail farm business management tools to help measure business performance, while Brent Alexander from Lockhart will provide a farmer’s perspective on the role of mixed farming in sustainable agriculture.
Ian Ware from APA Sound will offer advice on how to get the farm digitally ready and how working together can increase connectivity.
Supported by Central West Farming Systems, the Farm Business Update at Cowra Services Club will begin at 9.00am and will conclude at 1.00pm, with catering provided.
