Invest time at Clare forum to reap farm business advice
Date: 03 Mar 2017
Strategies to build the enduring profitability of farming enterprises will be explored at a forum for grain growers and their advisers at Clare this month.
The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is hosting a Farm Business Update to follow the Hart Field-Site Group’s “Getting The Crop In” seminar on March 23.
GRDC Southern Regional Panel member Mark Stanley says the Clare Farm Business Update will be of enormous value to growers from throughout the Mid and Upper North, Yorke Peninsula and Adelaide Plains regions.
“The event at Clare is aimed at supporting growers looking to establish the most profitable enterprise mix and make the most from their earnings this financial year,” Mr Stanley said.
“I encourage everyone who is planning to attend the Getting The Crop In seminar to stay on for the Farm Business Update where the advice and insights being offered by industry experts will help inform local growers’ farm business decision-making this year.”
Richard Heath from the Australian Farm Institute will discuss farm land funding options, highlighting key points from an AFI research report reviewing strategies to reduce reliance on debt funding for future farm expansion.
Brian Wibberley from WSA Chartered Accountants will provide guidelines on where to invest to ensure the best use and return from any profit earnings in the 2016-17 financial year. He will explain Farm Management Deposits, superannuation and taxation implications.
Tim McClelland of Model Agronomics will be joined by Bill Long of Ag Consulting Co in discussing the most profitable enterprise mix for local growers in 2017.
David Smith of ORM will look at the characteristics of the region’s top performing farms to determine what underpins their success.
To be held at The Vines Church, Stradbrooke Road, Clare, the Farm Business Update will begin at 1.30pm following lunch and will conclude at 5pm.
