Kapinnie grains forum – reminder to growers
Author: Sharon Watt | Date: 13 Jun 2018
Local grain growers are being reminded of an upcoming post-seeding and grains research, development and extension (RD&E) forum at Kapinnie. The Lower Eyre Agricultural Development Association (LEADA) and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) are hosting the forum at the Cummins Kapinnie Football and Netball Clubrooms from 1pm on June 26.
The forum will provide growers with the opportunity to discuss and have input into their industry’s RD&E investments and will enable GRDC staff and members of the GRDC’s Southern Regional Cropping Solutions Network (RCSN) and Southern Regional Panel to listen to growers and discuss regionally-relevant RD&E investments, activities and opportunities.
Outcomes from the GRDC’s Stubble Initiative will also be discussed, and the management of weeds, insects and chemical resistance in retained stubble systems will be a particular focus. Leading the discussions on this topic will be University of Adelaide researcher Chris Preston and entomologist Kym Perry from the South Australian Research and Development Institute, a division of Primary Industries and Regions SA.
Following afternoon tea, a paddock and seeding inspection will be conducted on the property of Billy Pedler. The forum will conclude with a dinner at 6pm.
Growers and other industry personnel are encouraged to register their attendance for the forum. For more information or to register, please contact Megan Low, LEADA, on 0427 393065 or via email@example.com, or the Southern GRDC RCSN co-ordinator Jen Lillecrapp on 0427 647461 or via firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit the GRDC Regional Cropping Solutions website.
