Author: Sharon Watt | Date: 09 Oct 2018
Grain growers and advisers in Victoria’s north west are being invited to the Grains Research and Development Corporation’s (GRDC) effective spray application workshops next week.
Australia’s leading spray application specialist Bill Gordon will lead the free-of-charge workshops at St Arnaud, Pyramid Hill, Manangatang and Robinvale where growers will learn how to enhance the performance of their sprayer, improve product application and mitigate spray drift risk factors.
Presented by Birchip Cropping Group (BCG), the workshops will cover topics such as nozzle selection; droplet size and spray quality; legal and nozzle requirements for 2,4-D; appropriate conditions for spraying; day versus night spraying (risk of drift); and 24-hour risk profile for summer spraying.
Other topics include rate of product and adjuvant selection; adjuvant effects on nozzles; boom height above the target; influence of travel speed; boom stability importance; machine/sprayer design; and capture surface/ground cover.
The workshops will be at:
- St Arnaud Sporting Club – October 16, 3.00-6.30pm
- Pyramid Hill Football Club – October 17, 9.00am-12.30pm
- Manangatang Golf Club – October 18, 9.00am-12.30pm
- Robinvale Golf Club – October 19, 8.30am-12.00pm.
