Workshops to help growers combat frost

What are the best bet crop management tools to help mitigate frost risks in 2014?
Farmers can find out by attending Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Pre-Seeding Frost Workshops in March.
An initiative of the GRDC Regional Cropping Solutions Networks and coordinated by ConsultAg, the events will be held across southern and central areas of the Western Australian grainbelt.
ConsultAg director Garren Knell, who will address the workshops, said they would provide growers with an update on the latest frost research, a review of previous research, and management strategies.
“Other expert speakers will include Ben Biddulph and Ian Foster (DAFWA), Steven Crimp (CSIRO), Rebecca Jenkinson (Living Farms) and Steve Curtin (ConsultAg),” he said.
The GRDC Pre-Seeding Frost Workshops are scheduled for: Brookton on March 14; Lake Grace and Nyabing on March 19; Yealering on March 20; Lake King and Hyden on March 25; and Narembeen and Doodlakine on March 26.

Frost is a major priority area for GRDC, which is more than doubling its investment into frost research, development and extension (RD&E) to $3 million per year.
