Dowerin, Newdegate and Mingenew field day attendees are invited to drop into the new Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) marquee for a cuppa and to chat about their research needs.

GRDC western regional panel chairman Peter Roberts said the GRDC would host a new stand-alone, interactive display at these key events on the Western Australian farming calendar.

“This will allow the GRDC to highlight current high-priority research investments and to engage with growers and the broader industry to listen to their research needs,” he said.

“Display materials and key GRDC personnel will demonstrate how to engage with the GRDC through its Regional Cropping Solutions Networks (RCSNs) and western regional panel.

“Information will be available on high priority research investments identified through the RCSNs and the panel - such as frost, non-wetting soils, weed management, the use of lime and crop rotations.”

Mr Roberts said a range of information sources and decision support tools would be available including multimedia and conventional paper-based information resources, and decision support apps for use on smart phones.

“The GRDC will also partner with Curtin University to deliver information about a key new GRDC investment - the $100 million Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM), based at the university,” he said.
