Frost workshops to highlight latest research
Author: Natalie Lee | Date: 02 Mar 2015
Western Australian growers can find out the latest information on how to reduce the risk of frost damaging their crops this season by attending one of a series of workshops in March.
The informative and interactive Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Pre-Seeding Frost Workshops have been organised by ConsultAg director Garren Knell.
“The aim of the events is to provide growers with an update on the latest frost research; a review of previous research; and best-bet management tools before seeding in 2015,” he said.
A range of expert speakers, including leading researchers and consultants, will attend the workshops, an initiative of the GRDC Regional Cropping Solutions Network (RCSN).
The workshops are scheduled for:
- York – March 18, 10am-2pm
- Cunderdin – March 19, 7.30am-12 noon
- Bencubbin – March 19, 2-6pm
- Merredin – March 20, 7.30am-12 noon
- Borden – March 24, 7.30am-12 noon
- Tambellup – March 24, 2-6pm

Frost is a major priority area for the GRDC, which invests $3 million per year into its National Frost Initiative. This initiative takes a multi-discipline approach to frost mitigation that encompasses genetic, management and environmental solutions.
