Expressions of Interest to breed Vetch in Australia

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) have co-invested in the breeding and commercial release of vetch since 1992, assisting vetch to become an important pasture in Australia. The germplasm generated in this program is currently co-owned by GRDC and SARDI.

GRDC and SARDI wish to explore alternative models for the development and commercial deployment of vetch varieties that offer value for money invested and continue to deliver high quality varieties to Australian grain growers to achieve the industry objectives of increasing yield, providing new and improved traits to improve profitability and to position the crop for new higher-value market opportunities. GRDC will manage this process on behalf of SARDI. SARDI reserves the right to submit an application.

GRDC is seeking Proposals from parties, including consortia, who may be interested in vetch breeding.

This EOI process may be the first of a multi-stage procurement process. Further information on the next stage (if any) will be made available after the EOI is completed.
