Japanese Smile on WA Lupins
GroundCover™ Issue: 16
The Grain Pool of WA reports that Japan's agricultural cooperative giant ZEN-NOH has launched a four million yen campaign to promote Western Australian lupins into the Japanese dairy cattle industry. A ZEN-NOH spokesperson said trials during the past decade indicate that Japanese dairy cattle find lupins more palatable than soybean meal flakes, their milk quality is improved and lupins are also cheaper than soybeans. The campaign promises to make 42,000 dairy cattle producers in Japan aware of WA lupins.
