Wot, me cold?
GroundCover™ Issue: 23
News from the United States says a research team at Michigan State University claims to have isolated genes which control a plant's ability to survive the cold.
Activating this 'master switch' can turn on the plant's entire suite of cold-weather genes. One advantage would be indifference to sudden cold snaps, which now can severely damage crops. However, says the report, the study did not look at possible harmful side-effects from being cold-ready at all times.
