The bad, the ugly and the troublesome
Graingrowers in southern NSW, Victoria and SA have nominated annual ryegrass and wild oats as their main problem weeds. This is perhaps not news any more.
However, other top baddies to emerge from a GRDC-supported survey were:
- NSW - capeweed, wild radish and hogweed
- Victoria — wild radish, capeweed and silvergrass
- SA — wild radish, brome grass and barley grass.
GRDC supported the survey because it will help to calculate the economic cost of weeds and allow the Corporation to make informed decisions about where best to invest in research.
