LEONARD and Fay Vallance from the southern Mallee of Victoria are the first growers to be accredited to the Graincare on-farm quality assurance program.

The Grains Council of Australia announcement reported that the Vallances participated in a pilot program conducted across four states to test the structure of Graincare and draft a code of practice. As well as satisfying the Graincare audit, the Vallances are also accredited to CATTLECARE and Flockcare with the beef and sheepmeat sections of their enterprise.

Graincare, which was introduced at the industry's Grains Week conference earlier this year, is a HACCP-based food and feed safety assurance program which is designed to meet the requirements of Australian and overseas end users and marketers of cereal, pulses and oilseeds.
