Disease database debuts

OVER 100 years of research, covering 130,000 records and 95 per cent of Australia's plant disease fungi, have been consolidated into a single online database to help researchers, plant pathologists and quarantine agencies combat the multi-million dollar fungi problem. Plant Health Australia (PHA) launched the database to provide a reliable information source to help users identify organisms and manage plant diseases in seconds. The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GROC) annually invests $250,000 into PHA, a new public company that identifies and coordinates priority plant health issues.
