GREG GIBLETT had his doubts about how effective he could be when he was invited to join the North East NSW Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) two years ago, but says he's been "pleasantly surprised".

Lindsay Fairweather, who joined the Central Queensland RAC not long after it formed, reckons it's a wonderful way for growers to have input into how their crop levies are spent.

Rod Morris, from Bellata, says more farmers need to know about the RAC system and how it works to identify and prioritise research issues. Mr Morris says the North West NSW RAC, which he chairs, "is always looking for more farmer members".

And John Kneipp, NSW Agriculture's program leader, farming systems, and also its representative on the North East NSW RAC, believes the system is "getting up a bit more momentum", with the GRDC more ready and able to consult under its new program arrangements.
