New alliance with Access Genetics

Grain industry consortium Nugrain has acquired half of plant breeding company Access Genetics. Nugrain is a grain industry business jointly owned by chemical manufacturer Nufarm, agribusiness company Wesfarmers Landmark and bulk grain handlers Graincorp, Ausbulk and Consolidated Bulk Handling. Access Genetics was established two years ago by Valley Seeds chairman Donald Coles, with the aim of breeding cereals, pulse and oilseed varieties for Australian crop farmers. Valley Seeds breeds pasture seed varieties at Alexandra, north of Melbourne.
