Tasmania has established the nation's most stringent controls on genetically modified crops, banning commercial GMOs for another five years, to 2008. The State has had a moratorium on commercial GM crops for the past two years, which was to end in June this year.
Meanwhile, WA may soon be zoning areas as free of GM crops, under draft legislation announced by the State government.
