The science and technology carrying barley and the grains industry into the future will be under the microscope at the 53rd Australian Cereal Cbemistry Conference 2003 and Barley Technical Symposium at the Stamford Grand Hotel in Glenelg, Adelaide, 7- 10 September. The conference will open with a joint session on the new technologies that will take the grains industry to 2010 - including functional genomics, metabolomics, radiation hybrid mapping, gene flow applications, tbe barley chip program, BarT technologies and Xylanase inhibitors - tben move on to concurrent sessions on cereal chemistry - diagnostics for traits screening and cultivar identification and manipulation of grain constituents - and, for barley scientists, the future of barley and molecular markers.
