Investment partnerships between the GRDC and CSIRO have been recognised for the second year running with the GRDC again receiving the CSIRO Chairman’s Medal for Science Excellence. The awards recognise research teams that have made significant scientific or technological advances that deliver positive impact for Australia.

2017 Chairman’s Medal for Science Excellence

Awarded to:
Cereal rust disease prevention
CSIRO agriculture and food rust researchers were recognised for contributing to global food security by protecting cereal crops against rust diseases. The researchers worked on this pioneering research with GRDC investments.

2016 Chairman’s Medal for Science Excellence

Awarded to:
Kebari™ Barley
The development and commercialisation of Kebari™ barley was recognised for developing the world’s first and only gluten-free barley. The citation recognised the GRDC as a distinguished CSIRO partner in the development of Kebari™ barley.
