Faba bean, Vicia faba, is a winter-growing pulse, or food legume crop. It is primarily grown in Victoria, northern NSW and some parts of southern Queensland,Western Australia and Tasmania.

Faba beans are a valuable crop grown in Australia for the human consumption market as well as the benefits it can offer for livestock nutrition and as a rotation crop. With the development of new varieties for different regions and conditions there is an increase in faba bean production in Australia.
