Wheat production accounts for 70 per cent of  Western Australian cereal production with about seven million tonnes generated annually on rain-fed systems across four million hectares of land.  WA generates about 50 per cent of Australia's total annual wheat production.  More than 80 percent of WA wheat crop is exported - predominantly to Asia and the Middle East generating $2 billion in annual export earnings for the State.
