Farm workforce - recruitment update and outlook

Sally Murfet - Inspire AG

Since the disruption COVID-19 caused to international travel, sourcing and recruitment of farm labour has become a very competitive exercise. Sally will provide an update on the schedule for backpacker and offshore labour to return along with guidelines for sourcing farm workers from the local market. If looking to recruit currently or in the future join the session to hear about the requirements to manage recruitment in the current environment and how to give yourself the best chance for success. Sally will provide feedback on the things those potential employees are looking for that go beyond the dollars and cents.

Sally Murfet is a farmers’ daughter with red dirt running through her veins. Proudly Tasmanian born and bred with a national awareness of the Australian agricultural sector. With more than 20 years’ experience working on-farm and with agribusiness companies, Sally has an innate understanding of what makes ag businesses tick, from the paddock to the boardroom. As a HR strategist, project manager, facilitator and thought leader specialising in the Australian agri sector, she has made a career out of helping clients turn their visions into reality.
