Study tours

With high demand for canola seed in WA in recent seasons as well as uncertainty over the supply of seed, the study tour gave growers an in-depth understanding of the process for seed producers to bring hybrid canola seed to market.

The Australian grain industry has benefited from hosting the International Oat Conference in 2022. This event brought international experts from across the global oat value chain together with a large cohort of Australian oat specialists to learn about the opportunities and challenges for oat.

At just 35, Ben Boughton’s remote-sensing journey has already included a Nuffield Australia Scholarship and an agtech start-up. With that business sold, he is looking at how satellite imagery and other technology can help on the family farm.
