Intellectual Property & Licensing

Intellectual property management

We usually own a share of all intellectual property (IP) generated by the research projects in which we invest. This consists of:

  • registrable IP (plant breeder’s rights [PBR], patents and trade marks)
  • non-registrable IP (intellectual know-how and trade secrets).

GRDC actively manages its IP to:

  • ensure research outputs are adopted as quickly and effectively as possible, by extension and/or commercialisation
  • provide access to GRDC IP, and gain access to third-party IP where it will facilitate the delivery of research outputs.

We seek protection of our IP, when doing so will achieve our objectives of maintaining registered IPs.

For new or existing registered IP and licensing matters, please contact licensing@grdc.com.au
