NGN - Farming after Fire - soil and herbicide management post fire, pre-seeding
There is need to respond to these bushfire events extremely rapidly whilst clean-up is being undertaken, damage being assessed and ahead of major 2022 crop planning decisions being made. The investment will provide soils and cropping related expert advice to growers in a timely manner and will provide support to growers through tough decision making. Researchers and/or industry consultants with the required expertise to deliver on the below topics will be approached to present. - Soil management options post fire - Weed management post fire (incl. herbicide behaviour/efficacy) - Best rotation options - Farm business support (insurance, machinery replacement)
A peer-to-peer learning component will be included where growers can hear from other grower/s who have experience in re-building and cropping after similar fire events.
