GRS - (Linda Brain) F. graminearum cell wall (GRS11005)
The aim of this project is to identify the enzymes that are essential for biosynthesis of the cell wall of the cereal pathogen Fusarium graminearum and to use this knowledge to produce new and potent fungal inhibitors that can be used in crop protection. Fungicides currently in use are not particularly effective in controlling F. graminearum and resistance has been reported. This project is aligned with the GRDC priority areas such as improving cereal crop yields and management of cereal (non-rust) fungal pathogens. This work will benefit the grains industry by enabling growers to meet both local and international market requirements.
